MONOLITH

April 30, 2012 News Comments Off on MONOLITH

Bong-Ra’s new album ‘Monolith’ is a new step in pure hybrid electronics. Seamlessly mixing all styles with ease. Be it Metal, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop and Dubstep. A musical characteristic he has gained international praise for.
‘Monolith’ is divided up into two segments : ‘Alpha’ and ‘Omega’. ‘Alpha’ are four Hiphop-esque colossals featuring the American rapper Sole, who has proven himself over the years with his crew and label Anticon. ‘Omega’ is the dancefloor orientated part of the album where Bong-Ra continues with his trademark Metalbreaks style.

The Hard Way Tour

December 20, 2011 News Comments Off on The Hard Way Tour

The Hard Way tour starts February 2012!

Limewax, Bong-ra & Thrasher aka Hollands heaviest DJ’s are joining forces for The Hard Way. What better trio is there to slash your club into smithereens than these 3 heavyweights. All of these guys need no introduction when it comes to their love for the harder styles. Limewax is Hollands pride and glory and has been shaking the foundations of the dnb & hardcore ever since he started. Bong-ra is a Breakcore legend if there ever was one but now he’s back with a revamped sound thats just to much to handle. Thrasher aka Mr PRSPCT is the man behind the infamous label and has been a core specialist ever since the beginning. His view on dnb & hardcore has taken the world by storm, and is an asset to this trio like no other.
On this record the trio shows all their sides when it comes to their vision of hard music. Combining Drum & Bass, Hardcore, Jungle, Breakcore, Dubstep & Rock all into 1 because genres are for pussies!

Playing favourites: Bong-Ra

RA’s Holly Dicker quizzes the breakcore pioneer about some of his cherished tunes.

“Everyone has their dark side,” laughs Jason Köhnen. The man better known as Bong-Ra, responsible for some of the most thrashing electronic music out there, has just admitted to having “a thing” for Rod Stewart in hot pants—one of the many surprises thrown up in our interview. Another: He rarely listens to electronic music at home, preferring more “organic” strains of audio, as he calls it.

Featured Review

If I always felt some sort of adversity towards electronics music it wasn’t because I thought it was unable to take music to places where the human capability was uncapable of exploring, but because I thought of it as a soulless craft. It was ignorant and short sighted of me to think that way because clearly, whether through guitars or programming it all still comes as spawn of human creativity.
